The problem
We as students ourselves have experienced first hand how feedback opportunities and methods can be demotivating and discentivising. The methods used are either too generic to give precise feedback or too specific to give generic feedback. Furthermore, the methods used are in obscure and hard to reach places which can not be revisited and used as a reference point for students. The opportunities to give and receive feedback can be a rare occasion, either only being available during the course and/or after the course. Finally, students often feel that nothing is done with their feedback because they do not get any response on their feedback and do now know if any of their thoughts are ones that fellow students can relate to. With our application we aim at solving these problems.
Our solution
Through our own experience and contact with teachers, we know that time is a valuable currency within academic teaching. That’s why we at TuneBoard wanted to make the process of asking for and receiving feedback as easy as possible. Our application is integrated in the Canvas environment and through it extracts course information which makes setting up the process less time consuming. Our application provides teachers with explicit and implicit sources of feedback. One the one hand, we provide customizable feedback forms with analytics and on the other hand we provide an activity dashboard with information about students engagement with the course.
